Open source marketing
Some food for thought on marketing new style. As opposed to command and control old style marketing.
"They understand that the powerful new markets created by Open Source values are transparent, that they operate in real-time, that they are controlled by people not companies, that they are global, highly reactive, flooded with information and made up of millions of interlinked niches. And they know that effective modern marketing strategies must reflect this new environment."

Good overview. Agree.
Some thoughts:
1) Fits perfectly with the concept of Trusted Brands of Michael Moon/Gistics
2) http://www.thefeature.com/article?articleid=101536&ref=6630666&&stylesize=big
for a mobile example of this PDF doc. To me this means among others billboards with interactivity (SMS, GeoWeb tagging (barcodes, RFID)), pull marketing using mobile search engine marketing as well as mobile coupons and finally using the cameraphones of users to get them to take pictures of brands for contests (also pull).
3) The key thing in my view is that the Open Source people are the most communicative and thus virally the most interesting group for most marketing campaigns. That is the main reason that these people can no longer be ignored.

We know this works. Forget the theory. We built a whole business on Open Source Marketing, without knowing it.
Blowfly Beer, (Australia) the first ever virtual beer, became a reality when we left the development of the product and the strategy of the company in the hands of the public.
With no advertising or traditional marketing the company has sold thousands and thousands of cartons of Blowfly beer (www.blowly.com.au) has members in 25 countries and is exporting to Asia and within weeks to the US.
Took us 2 years to define the parameters of Open Source Marketing, but we're experts now - it’s good to see a global acceptance of what we commence a few years back.
Thanks for the comments Liam: http://www.yme.nl/thoughts/2005/05/owning-beer-you-drink.html.
